Frederick Douglas

Family Peer Specialist and a Family Partner
Implementation Specialist
Hi I am Frederick Douglas and I am a mother of 3 beautiful daughters Corey, Joi, and Mia, and a grandmother and great grandmother. I have lived the life and walked the walk as a parent of children with emotional and behavioral health challenges. I currently have over 30 years of experience and training in supporting families within the principles of youth and family-driven care. I truly believe that the voices of the families being served to lead the decision-making process in service delivery are a vital component of mental wellness. I am a Certified Family Peer Specialist and a Family Partner Implementation Specialist with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I received the National Federation of Families ‘Jane Adams Award for Peer Support in 2017 and I am also an ordained Elder and Pastor of a nonprofit in Greensboro NC, Faith in Community Ministries which gives me a unique perspective as a part of leadership in the Faith  Community. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communications at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro but the greatest contribution in my role is my lived experience.
