Juvenile Justice Substance Abuse Training and Technical Assistance Specialist
I am a Juvenile Justice Substance Abuse Training and Technical Assistance Specialist in the Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Wingate University. I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. I began my professional career with Guilford County in Children and Family Services where I worked as a case manager, case manager supervisor, and Coordinator for two county-wide programs for At-Risk children. I left Guilford Center after changes in mental health resulted in the state’s shift to privatization. After leaving Guilford Center, I held several roles with private providers. Those roles include Behavioral Health Operations Director of a Crisis Unit, Chief Operations Officer for a Critical Access Behavioral Health (CABA) agency, and Qualified Professional for Level III Residential Treatment Homes. Additionally, I worked as a Case Worker for a Therapeutic Foster Care agency. My passion is for work focused on improving the lives of children and families. One program I worked in very early in my career was the result of a lawsuit. The program was heavily monitored by the state and used data to drive, support, and prove change. Since that time, the quantitative aspects of work have been extremely important to me. I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of The Center for Youth, Family, and Community Partnerships in the Training and Technical Assistance Specialist. I look forward to putting my passion and experience to work as well as developing new skills in an effort to improve outcomes for juveniles in my work with the Center.
