I am the Project Director for Healthy Transitions NC, which focuses on ensuring youth and young adults of transition-age can access behavioral health supports. This work is near and dear to my heart. I spent almost two decades providing community-based social work in a variety of settings. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New College of the University of South Florida and my Master’s in Social Work from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and enjoy providing mentorship and supervision to new clinical social workers. I started my social work career as a domestic violence victim advocate, and later gained invaluable experience working with the Department of Social Services in child welfare. My passion for providing trauma-sensitive services and preventing disruption to families led me to the community mental health field where I received in-depth training in family systems therapy, trauma focused CBT, attachment, and treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health and intellectual/developmental disabilities. I have always been interested in the impact of community collaboration and system-level changes on the delivery of services on the ground. I believe strongly in using a collaborative, trauma-informed, strength-based approach to make meaningful change. I am passionate about ensuring that all members of our community can access high-quality behavioral health support.
